OUR MISSION

Our mission at Plainfield is simple, we want to bring people to Christ. We want to share the gospel of Jesus Christ to as many people as we can. We want people to know that Jesus loves them unconditionally and that they can have a loving relationship with Him. We do not want people who come to Plainfield to simply have a religious experience. We want people to feel the overwhelming presence of Jesus Christ through a saving relationship. A relationship that only He can offer through the forgiveness of sins by His death on the cross. John 3:16 tells us, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life (ESV). We simply want to tell people the good news that Jesus Saves!

Our History

Plainfield's first church was built in 1890, a building 20 feet by 30 feet. The original building is still enclosed in the walls of our present church. An additional 20 feet by 30 feet was added around 1913, thus doubling the size and forming a "T." The church was plain with kerosene lamps on the wall, a wood stove for heat, and curtains to divide classrooms.

In 1945 it was decided to remodel the church. The side walls of the first two buildings were moved out, bricked, and a steeple added. The completed building was then dedicated in 1948. In 1953 two additional Sunday school rooms and a basement were added to the church. In 1959 construction began on a new fellowship hall that would be completed the following year in 1960 and in 1974 the main church building and the fellowship hall were connected.

Today, Plainfield still has the feel of a simple, traditional, down home church with a few additions to keep up with the times such as a sound system, dual projection screens, and a recently paved parking lot in 2016.
